In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Papa Loves Mambo.” Wow! I love today’s writing prompt because it struck a chord in me,bringing back the nostalgia from my childhood days.
My Papa surely loved and still loves Music , and all kinds of Genre way back in the days.
Every morning He will wake us up with a beautiful tune from Chief commander Ebenezer Obey, the combination of prayer rhymes and feel good sound,a little bit of KSA (King Sunny Ade), Bongos Ikwe and sauteed with a splash from C.A.C the good women choir.
My House was filled with all kinds and styles/genre. I remember the colourful graphics of all of Fela Anikulapo Kuti &TheEgypt 80band.
Fela was an enigma and His memories still lingers on,Nigerian still celebrates the Enigma-preparation is on going for this year’s Felabration.
My Dad collected all kinds of albums from Juju to Afro beat,Apala, from Bongos Ikwe to Orlando Owoh,Orlandi Julius,Onyeka Onwenu and the list goes on.
My favourites was the duo of Lijadu Sisters they influenced my taste for neosoul music and positive sounds.
Today, I’m an Afroneosouljazz singer making melodies to the Lord, and positively influencing my world, because God gave me a Father who soaked my youthful days with Music that made positive difference in people.
So get your groove on,its fusion baby! 🙂 :).

I feel you completely. Music was my dad’s lifebeat. He loved it so much that I suspected he wanted to be a musician 😊. 1 am glad that your musical foundation has really taken root in you. It’s all beautiful.
