“It’s not happiness that makes us grateful, it’s gratefulness that makes us happy.
Here I am sitting down on my bed,I want to try and catch a nap, but then I just thought of scribbling something down, enjoying the freedom of my timing.Living life the way I desire to live, without the pressure of the rat race and the empty promise of a “good care progression or development opportunities.
I am choosing to chase happiness and joy instead of the cares and frivolities if this world. From the figure in our bank account to the number of followers on social media,it is now a norm to base our happiness around egos, monetary gains, or the attainment of titles and things (dont get me wrong – money is good, and it is a tool to carry out purpose but when it begins to take centre stage in one’s life.CAUTION is needed. Even the old book says ,” The love of money is the root of all evil”.
Money can present us with opportunities for happiness,no doubt about that ,I mean I love to live the “good life” have fancy cars, and be able to travel the world (that’s one of my bucket list) :-). sometimes our priorities are led astray by desires and distractions from our hyper advertised reality.
People accumulate and accumulate and accumulate stuffs, that they dont need and end up not using. why not have less stuffs and do more-Happiness doesn’t come in a shopping bag,but it comes as a result of memories created and experience.
Let’s be sincere here,in the name of consumerism, our generation is squandering away our happiness just like the the prodigal son,cut up in the euphoria of the moment wasting away all of life’s effort in the name of “uberliciousness” expanding beyond our materialistic comfort and plunge into new heights of adventure alas at the end of the tunnel is “Disatisfaction” its never enough.Have you heard of the saying,”Godliness with contentment is great gain”.
Of what use is all your accumulations if you can find yourself, Still? If you think you will find your true identity in all that you have acquired and are still acquiring. I beg your pardon,”you are on a long thing!
Do what you need to do,take risks, get out of the comfort zone, dont look for the easy out ,do you know that you will never be as young as you are right now. Start small with the internal capacity to become great,”T
hough your beginning may be small, your latter end shall greatly increase”.
Jim Carrey once said,”you can fail at what you dont want,so you might as well take a chance on what you love”
Listen less to voices in your life warning you into “safety mode” or the mass media telling you what to be afraid of, what to desire, telling you to give up on your true identity.
You can never find happiness trying to fill your life with things. It is the moments we experience that brings us happiness.
