The People around me, says a lot about who I am, and what I value.
The bigger your dreams or ambitions, the more important your team-Robin Sharma.
When you take on big challenges it easy to be become overwhelmed and discouraged-Sometimes feeling lost and alone. That’s the way I have been feeling in the last 2 days with the release of a new music video. The stress of finding the right publicity teams to put together has the vision is gradually expanding, changing ideas at the last minutes and doing presentations here and there.
I am made to understand yet again the importance of people. Successful People not only work well with others but depend on others as well. They build and appreciate those around them.
On the other hand, most people do not work well with others, they perceive themselves more capable than others. I once had a relationship with a someone who always believed that she could do better than anyone else and almost rub it on your face- She lost most of her best hands because her, ‘without you, I can do it’ attitude.
I learnt from this woman, that the bigger your dreams and ambition, the more helping you will need from other people because the truth of the matter is that you can only go far alone, but to achieve peak performance and take the quantum leap you will need people!
It’s saddening to realize that sometimes our potentials are halted because of our inability to leverage and expand on the help we are able to garner from other people.
Somebody once likened teamwork to a group of cyclist moving together, they go faster for longer because of the forward moving air that is pulled behind by the front rider which enables the cyclist to conserve about 40-50% of their energy. Now compare that to when a cyclist rides alone, they are forced to faced wind resistance head -on.
This simple analogy of cycling explains the importance of teamwork and team spirit.

In fostering Teamwork, the idea of “lone-ranger” does not play out here. There is no competition either. It is not about “I am great, you are not”. Rather it is about community, partnership, contributing to the growth of one another which I find out is played out on this platform of blogging.
I will be sounding like a broken record if I say that the power of community has made a significant impact on my journey as a writer in the short space of time.
In building team spirit and fostering teamwork the dialogue and conversation are “we are great” together, there is collaboration, such that at the end of the day it is a Win-win situation in all aspect.
The wise sage puts it better in his saying,
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour:
If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
But pity who falls and has no one to help them up. Eccle 4:9-11.
You will agree with me, that the last sentence is a dangerous scenario to find yourself. That is why it is important to always celebrate the people we have who surrounds us on a daily basis, not just in our workspace, I am talking about family, spouse ,children, siblings, colleagues, flatmates, workmates, blog mates all the mates. They all serve as ‘lifeline relationship’- People who make sure we don’t fall out of the cycle.
Learning to show appreciation and not taking any of our team members for granted is the key to maximum Impact…Together!
